VOLUME commissioned eight electronic sound and media artists to “plug into” the permanent collection to create new collaborative performances.
Artists featured were: Seth Horvitz and Nate Boyce collaborated on a sound and visual performance, inspired by Sol Lewitt’s Bands of Color in Four Directions and in all Combinations; Loren Chasse created a performance based on Andy Goldsworthy’s installation Drawn Stone; Lucky Dragons and David Wilson collaborated to create an interactive musical and visual performance in The Piazzoni Murals Room; Dave Aju collaborated with visual artist JD Beltran to produce an immersive sound and visual environment that acts as an aural complement to Cornelia Parker’s Anti-Mass; Kadet Kuhne created a sonic representation of movement in conversation with Josiah McElheny’s Model for Total Reflective Abstraction.
This program was presented in partnership with the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival.
