ISSUE Project Room and Harlem Stage, in partnership with Anthology Film Archives and the Jazz Studies Department of Columbia University, presented a month-long celebration of the great maestro Cecil Taylor, one of the greatest improvisers in the history of modern jazz. Cecil Taylor: A Celebration of the Maestro featured a range of performances, readings, conversations and screenings featuring Amiri Baraka, Vijay Iyer, and the William Hooker Ensemble, as well as two rare performances by Cecil Taylor himself.
